The Loose Nut Behind The Wheel

Welcome Jet Sprint fans to Round 7 of the West Coast Jet Sprint Clubs 2014-15 season. After 4 weeks off since an extremely successful Australia Day round 6, all boats and crew should be feeling refreshed and ready to race.

If crowd numbers are anything to go by then the Australia Day Round 6 meeting was one of the clubs most successful in many years. Its good to see the club moving forward again and even better to see the crowds coming out and enjoying the racing. As much as we enjoy getting out on the track and wringing the neck of our machines that we spend endless hours tweaking, polishing and maintaining, we are extremely aware that we have to put on a good show to keep the crowds entertained. Getting the boats out quickly with fewer breaks is our main priority. As much as most of you would love to sit next to a tranquil waterway and enjoy the serenity, its not why you came here.

We are always open to suggestions and crowd feedback so feel free get onto the website at www.jetsprintwa.com.au and go to the contact us section to send us an email.

The Round 6 wash up had Paul Mileham and Nikki Mullins in Karma take the 350 class honours from Geoff and Coreen Steele in Subject to Finance. Geoff made it easy for Paul by crashing out in the eliminations with a very gentle and graceful roll over. Welcome to the Upside Down club guys.

EFI Class was once again dominated by Gavin (Likes to Please) McLees in Willytippit, with Simon Cain and Rachael Uren in Quality Time taking second place from Dan Paterson and Clint Reid in War Machine.

Group A had a very lucky Nigel and Michele Johnson in Weapon of Choice only having to finish a lap for the win with Rod Wood and Kylie Morris in Triple X suffering a broken ring gear and being unable to start the boat also leaving Triple X B team Mark Lucas and Kevin Margetts high and dry in the top 3 as well.

Jamie and Cory Welsh took the Superboat honours from mum Cheryl Welsh and Shauna Dean in the Natwell Racing machine.

It was great to have our old commentator Dan Ennis back on the Mic for one night only. Dan moved to Melbourne last year so we have missed his quirky humour over the PA. We will be breaking in a few new commentators tonight so make them feel welcome and be gentle.

We also honoured one of the clubs true gentleman and workhorse Neil Mercer with a Life Membership. Neil has been our main Photographer for many years now and the master of the whippersnipper. Always with a smile and a pleasant comment, Neil has been an inspiration within the club and we hope to have him around for many years to come.

We hope you all enjoy the racing tonight, please respect others by parking as directed so we can fit as many cars in as possible. Remember that Bonneys Waterski Park is a glass free venue so if you have unwittingly brought in stubbies then give yourself an uppercut and make sure you take the empties home with you.
